3 MISTAKES THAT YOU AND I MAKE DURING OUR BREAKFAST

28-02-2016 - Do you start with a healthy breakfast every day, but you don’t succeed to loose those last few kilos? Then this blog is for you! There are three breakfast mistakes that many people make unconsciously every day that may even lead to gaining weight. Huh? Really? Really! I've made them all (unfortunately) and that is why I would like to share them with you.

Your breakfast is the most important meal of the day - especially for a real health freak with bikini body goals. If your breakfast is well put together, this can be the key to speeding up your metabolism and burn fat from the moment you start your day! 

1. Too little protein in your breakfast

Feeding your body with the right amount of pure proteins in the morning contributes to a better production of neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters send a "signal" to your body and therefore determine how you feel. It supports a good memory, alertness and focus. We all know that losing weight is easier when you are emotionally balanced! Furthermore, it is scientifically proven that a protein-rich meal gives your stomach a sense of satisfaction and prevents cravings later in the day.

2. You think you eat enough protein in your breakfast

Now you might think; "But I eat protein." I experience that woman think they get enough protein in the morning, but this is actually not the case. The following breakfasts are popular; do you also eat something like this?

  • Bowl of yogurt with muesli and fruit
  • Bread with peanut butter, cheese or other toppings
  • A fruit smoothy, superfoods and nuts

These meals indeed contain some protein, but the total amount is not very high. In addition, these proteins are low in quality and it is better to choose another source of proteins.

3. Oops .. no time for breakfast!

No breakfast in the morning is detrimental to your metabolism and causes you to eat too much during the later hours of the day - compared to those who start the day with a breakfast. In my first point I mentioned that no breakfast would lead to cravings and this is of course what you want to prevent when you are working towards your new killer body. A small snack to kill the craving can make you consume an extra 500 calories. A good breakfast would have prevented this.

3 BREAKFAST TIPS BY Foodie-NESS


  1. A breakfast with oatmeal and piece of fruit (banana for an extra energy boost!) and a handful of nuts;
  2. A protein shake with oatmeal, fruit, and seeds;
  3. Brown bread with an omelette (scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, you name it!) and veggies.

These three breakfasts provide the right amount and balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats. In addition, these will make you feel full, your body has all the energy and it prevents cravings later in the day! Voila!

One last tip! What to do if you're not a morning person, you always oversleep or find it difficult to eat a meal in the morning? Prep it! Make sure you got the groceries in the house and put everything ready the night before. You could also leave dreamland just five minutes earlier ..
